Mechanical Design

Development of visualization skills, technical design, and basic design elements of dimensioning, sectioning, auxiliary projection, with the introduction of simple assembly designs.

An in-depth look at the utilization of CAD and drafting related careers as future options. 3D parametric modeling, solid modeling, surface modeling, rendering and mechanical assemblies in a technical design environment.

Introduction to fabrication lab safety through the construction of small design and build projects.
(Course Description)

Lego Technic Project

Using Dassault Systems' SolidWorks, I reverse engineered and assembled all the parts necessary for the Lego® Technic Skid Steer Loader. I also created the renderings for this project using SolidWorks Visualize.

The Technic sets were significantly more difficult than standard Lego sets, but I managed to complete and render my assembly for the M.I.T.E.S. competition in 2022.

Hydraulic Robot Arm

In collaboration with Zachary Geill and Connor Mudd, we designed, machined, and assembled a robot arm powered by manual hydraulics. This robot arm was placed in a class competition and won.

CO2 Car

Designed, machined, and assembled a wooden vehicle that is propelled by a CO2 Canister through Autodesk™ Inventor.

3D Printed Rocket

Designed, assembled, printed, and launched a 3D printed rocket.

The rocket uses a special lock mechanism to allow the user to open the rocket and replace its engine with ease while remaining intact during flight. The design also incorporates vents in the upper body to prevent the rocket from damage caused from internal expansion as a result of the engine.

Midterm Test

Recreated a complex part in SolidWorks from a dimensioned reference photo and laid and dimensioned the part on a title block.

Design Exercises

Recreated and Dimensioned multiple complex parts from reference photos and drawings using Autodesk™ Inventor.
